Hexagon Sympathy–C4C #192

C4C192_2013jun29

Hey there, Crazy fans! Back today with this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges! This week, Kristine is challenging us to use hexagons in our designs. MFT has so many hexagons to choose from it was a matter of deciding which one I wanted to use. In the end, I chose to use Die-namics Open Hexagon Borders.

I wanted to use the smallest size, so I stamped a few lines from Washi Patterns on Primitive White card stock with Black Licorice ink and cut out the die. Then I arranged the die cuts on a Primitive White card stock base and stamped the sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About Sympathy, on a Die-namics Layered Label die cut and popped it up on foam.

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Sympathy:

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C192.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Dream Big–MFTWSC #130

MFTWSC130_2013jun26

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC130

I brought out another of my favorite sets for this week’s card: LJD On the Line. First, I decided to use this patterned paper so I made a poppy with Die-namics Poppy Builder. I used Die-namics Textile Rectangle Frame Die Only for my sentiment, which was stamped with Black Licorice ink. Using the sketch, I constructed my card with patterned paper, popped the sentiment panel up on foam, and adhered the poppy. The leaves I used for the poppy were made with Die-namics LJD Poppies and Leaves. My card base was made with Sweet Tooth card stock with a Gumdrop Green card stock mat and the center of the poppy was cut from Black Licorice card stock.

And here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

And that’s it! We hope you’ll join us for this challenge this week!

The Best Is Yet To Come–CTD #248

CTD248_2013jun26

Hey, there! It’s Wednesday so it’s time for Color Throwdown! Today sweet Broni has a sweet color combo for us:

swatch 248
I was in need of an anniversary card so I went all mushy with this design :) First, I stamped a Kraft card stock card base with the herringbone design from LJD Spring Backgrounds and Versamark ink. Then I cut out Die-namics MPD Rose Bouquet from Primitive White card stock and stamped the rose with Pink Lemonade ink. To get the contrast I simply stamped with the same color and the second stamp. I used Berrylicious ink for the leaves and stem and adhered them to a Primitive White card stock panel that was matted with Berrylicious card stock. The sentiment was stamped on a Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX die cut—to get the two fishtail ends, I rolled my die cutting machine almost all the way to the end, turned the die around and rolled it back, again avoiding the already-cut fishtail end. Then I stamped the sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About Anniversaries, and scored and folded the ends, popping it up on foam. To finish off the card, I dotted some iridescent sequins here and there.

Here’s the inside, with another sentiment from the set:

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD248 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

Both of my cards today have a theme of encouragement and would be great for a young man heading off to college soon or any guy starting a new job or adventure. For my first one, I started off with a Sno Cone card stock base and added a Die-namics Skyline Border die cut, using Steel Gray card stock and backed with a Die-namics Solid Skyline using Black Licorice card stock. Then I stamped the sentiment, from Inspired by Up, Up and Away in Black Licorice ink and added a few Die-namics Cloud Trio clouds cut from Sweet Tooth card stock. I finished up with a Wild Cherry card stock airplane using Die-namics You Move Me Die & Stamp Set, and some red and white baker’s twine to tie it all together. No pun intended :)

For the inside, I used another sentiment from Inspired by Up, Up and Away.

For my second card, I went in a different direction, design-wise. My card base was made from Kraft card stock with a Berrylicious card stock panel bordered with Black Licorice card stock. I stamped the sentiment, from LLD Document It – Right On Target, wrapped around some baker’s twine, and tied on a Black Licorice button.

Next I cut out some Die-namics LLD Accent It – Feathers and Arrows from Primitive White card stock and stamped text from LJD Art Expression Text with Kraft ink, stamped off once. I inked up the edges and adhered them to the card base—the smaller one on foam tape. Here’s a close up of the feathers:
